ILOILO City – Five illegal gambling suspects were caught in two separate operations of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Region 6 in Estancia, Iloilo.
Arrested were Renaldo Marquez, 53, of Barangay Santa Ana, Estancia; Al Causing, 26, Gimars Arlos, 24, and Richard Villanueva, 36, of Barangay Pinay Espinosa, Ajuy; and Reina Declines, 46, of Barangay Cano-an, Estancia.
Police said the suspects were caught soliciting and collecting bets for the illegal numbers game “bookies.”
Marquez, Causing, Arlos, and Villanueva were arrested around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday in Barangay Santa Ana while Declines was nabbed a few minutes later, around 12:50 p.m., in Barangay Cano-an, police said.
The following items were seized from the first four suspects:
- P5,010 bet money

four mobile phones
-
three ball pens
-
two markers
-
bundles of cotejos (betting stubs), including ones labeled “Eagle Crest”
-
two sling bags
-
two Bajaj CT100 Kawasaki motorcycles
Declines, on the other hand, yielded the following:
- P1,670 bet money

stapler
-
bundles of cotejos labeled “PCSO”
-
carbon paper
-
ball pen
-
“Eagle Crest” identification card
All five suspects were detained at the Estancia police station. They were facing charges for violating Presidential Decree 1602, as amended by Republic Act 9287./PN
