SAN JOSE, Antique – Owners of building and establishments in the province of Antique are being urged to comply with the long-approved Accessibility Law that aims to enhance the mobility of persons with disability (PWD).

Paolo L. Castillo, Antique Persons with Disability Office (PDAO) head, said only a few have complied with the Accessibility Law in the province which is why they will again this year conduct an accessibility audit to find out the compliant establishments.

According to Castillo, Robinson’s Mall in Antique, and the municipal and capitol buildings in this town are few of those who have ramps for PWDs.

He added that together with the Provincial Planning and Development Office, Department of Public Works and Highways and the Provincial Engineering Office, they will conduct an accessibility audit on July 21 as part of the 39th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week Celebration.

The NDPR Week Celebration in Antique will also be held together with the Social Work Week Celebration from July 17-23 which is themed “Karapatan at Prebilehiyo ng may Kapansanan, Isakatuparan at Ipaglaban,”

Activities lined up for the celebration are media advocacy, social work forum, medical mission, and exhibit. (PNA)
