Antique police gird for All Saints’, All Souls’ days

SAN JOSE, Antique – Police in Antique already began preparing for the observance of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day this year.

They are drafting an operation plan to be carried out from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, according to Superintendent Norby Escobar, deputy director for operations of the Antique Police Provincial Office.

“We will set up police assistance desks in areas of convergence” as part of the Philippine National Police’s annual security measures dubbed “Oplan Kaluluwa,” Escobar said.

Escobar said they plan to deploy majority of police officers in the 18 municipalities to cemeteries to secure those visiting the graves of their dearly departed.

In this capital town alone, there are seven private and public cemeteries, Escobar pointed out.

Each municipal police station has between 22 and 70 officers.

At least 60 percent of them will be tasked to man the police assistance desks, Escobar said.

“Before Oct. 31 police will already patrol cemeteries,” said the police official. “Some people go to the cemeteries early to clean up or visit their dead loved ones.” (PNA)
