Antique prov’l gov’t grants free blood processing fees to 462 patients

ANTIQUE — The provincial government of Antique has provided free blood processing fees to 462 Antiqueño patients in need of blood transfusions, amounting to P1,046,300 from September 15 to December 15, 2025.

The assistance covered two types of blood products: whole blood, priced at P1,800 per unit, and red blood cells, costing P1,500 per unit.

Wilfredo Jauod, a social service staff member of the Governor’s Office who processes the requests, said the number of blood bags granted depends on the patient’s medical condition. He explained that patients undergoing Caesarean section operations and those with dengue typically receive one to two bags, dialysis patients are usually provided with three bags, while special cases—including cancer patients, critically ill individuals, and indigent patients—may receive more than five bags.

“All requests for assistance are accommodated. We provide more than three bags, and in some cases even five, depending on the patient’s condition,” Jauod said, citing Governor Paolo Javier’s directive to extend help to those in need, especially patients who cannot afford the cost of blood processing.

To avail of the assistance, beneficiaries are required to submit a blood request form, a valid identification card of the patient, and a valid ID of the representative.

For inquiries, interested individuals may coordinate with Wilfredo “Toto” Jauod at the first floor of the Tourism Building or contact him at 0905-905-7854.

The provincial government said the program is part of its continuing efforts to support indigent patients and ensure access to life-saving medical services across the province./PN
