ANTIQUE – There were four 2022 New Year revelry firecracker-related injuries in this province.
Two of the cases were due to “boga” and were from the towns of San Jose and Sibalom.
“Boga” or “PVC cannon” is a modern version of the bamboo cannon. It is operated in much the same way as a bamboo cannon, but held in the manner of a rocket launcher.
The two other cases were due to the usual firecrackers. They were in San Jose and San Remigio towns.
The four injured persons were treated in hospitals and quickly discharged. Their injuries were deemed ”minor”.
Despite these firecracker blast cases, the New Year celebrations across the province were generally peaceful, according to the Antique Police Provincial Office.
No major crimes happened and there were no stray bullets injuring or killing anyone, it stressed.
The two firecracker blast victims in San Jose were minors, according to Police Major Benjo Clarite, the town’s chief of police.
The “boga” victim was a resident of Barangay 8. The injuries were on the victim’s face.
