SAN JOSE, Antique – The Antique Police Provincial Office (APPO) has deployed security personnel in strategic areas across the province for the observance of Undas.
“All our police stations throughout the province have deployment plans,” said Superintendent Norby Escobar, deputy director for police operation of the APPO.
Escobar added, “Starting Oct. 31 up to Nov. 2, police presence will be felt in all places of convergence, like the cemeteries, bus terminals, business establishments, government facilities, and other crowded places, for the maintenance of peace and order.”
The police will also set up public assistance centers and checkpoints.
A composite team composed of personnel from public safety agencies – such as the police, Bureau of Fire Protection, search and rescue team of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and emergency medical service team of the Rural Health Unit – will man the public assistance centers.
“It is our intention to pool together the resources of these public safety agencies in order to move faster response time in case of fire and other related emergencies,” Escobar said.
The police are also distributing information and education campaign materials for crime prevention.
Pointed or bladed objects, playing cards, sound systems, and liquor are among the things prohibited inside public cemeteries.
The police will confiscate these prohibited items when they find one.
Escobar added that they will also patrol in residential areas to prevent burglary. He advised the public not to leave the house without someone guarding it. (PIA/PN)
