Area 7 tracksters overall champ in NegOcc Palaro

AREA 7 track and field team was hailed as overall champions in the secondary boys and girls category of the Negros Occidental Palarong Panlalawigan 2018 on Friday at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.

The Area 7 tracksters – mostly from the Romanito Maravilla National High School – have stamped their class in the weeklong event with 18 golds, nine silver and two bronze medals.

Bernalyn Bejoy captured her third gold medal in the tournament when she ruled the secondary girls 4×100 meter relay along with Brineth Cupan, Jennifer Hudierez, and Angel Ann Pranisa.

Trexie Dela Torre also took home her third gold medals when she tallied a personal best performance in the secondary girls 100 meter dash. Teammate Julian Pranisa bagged a silver medal.

Tristan Plotria, meanwhile, capped off the dominant stand of the Addy and Miguel Arca-mentored Area 7 when he took home the gold medals in the secondary boys 100-meter dash.

β€œThe players have made us proud. They go beyond our expectation as coaches,” Addy told Panay News. β€œWe will not slow down with our preparations as we want most of them to qualify in Palarong Pambansa.”

Meanwhile, Jade Cordova, Shalthea Delotavo, April Dealagdon, and Ana Hermosura of Bacolod Tay Tung-NOPSSCEA settled for silver in elementary girls 4×100 relay, while Cordova, Delotavo, Dealagdon and Churynthya Tecson also had silver in 4×400 relay.

Sisters Hannah and Ara Delotavo and Antonette and Krisha Aguillon finished with silver medal in secondary girls 4×100 relay, while Hannah, Ara, Antonette and May Therese Gula also had silver in 4×400 relay. Antonette also had a bronze in 100-meter dash./PN
