BACOLOD City – The village chief of Barangay Marcelo, Calatrava town reported to police authorities on Thursday that he was being threatened by a group of armed men and suspected drug pushers in the area.
Jeremias Diotay said he has received death threats from the group led by Principes “Dondon” Vicera Jr., an alleged drug pusher.
The barangay is the only barangay in Calatrava town that was not subjected to the Oplan Tokhang campaign despite the rampant proliferation of illegal drugs, Diotay said.
Vicera’s group was tagged in the killing of a figurine vendor who was mistaken as an undercover agent on Tuesday.
Henry Amogod of Barangay 1, Bacolod City, was talking to his customers when two armed men shot him on the head. He died on the spot.
Diotay furthermore disclosed that the group was also responsible for several holdups and killing incidents in the town.
Three years ago, the group held up a bread vendor and took away his motorcycle and cash. They also reportedly robbed a lending company and took away P80,000 cash.
Vicera was also tagged in the killing of Lino Abela, 38, and Richard Nemenzo, 39. He also allegedly killed his own cousin, whose name was withheld, and buried him in a rice field.
The village chief is asking police authorities to conduct an operation against Vicera’s group./PN
