MANILA – Former president and current deputy speaker Cong. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Wednesday denied that she will be replacing House speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.
In a statement, Arroyo said she was forced to make the denial after hearing about reports that she is poised to take over the highest post in the Lower House.
“I categorically deny that. I don’t have plans of taking his [Alvarez’s] place,” she said.
Earlier, Alvarez also denied that he will reprise his role as transportation secretary to pave the way for Arroyo.
“Hindi ko alam kung natutulog yung nagsasabi nun pero sa tingin ko naman kwentong kutsero lang yan, ginu-good time lang kayo,” he said.
Alvarez had served as transportation chief during the Arroyo administration but said it would be a demotion if he were to revert back to his old post. (ABS-CBN News)
