Ateneo de Iloilo enters Milo Passerelle, SBP caging finals

ILOILO City – Ateneo de Iloilo entered the championship round of the Passerelle and SBP division of the 2019 Milo SBP-Passerelle Twin Tournament Iloilo leg after beating their semifinals foes on Saturday at the Jaro Plaza Gym.

In the Passerelle division, the ADI rolled past Sta. Clarita International School Primes, 62-33, in the semifinals round behind the fine plays of Mark Kuan, John Altubar and Jened Caguimbaga.

ADI started strong in the game with a 20-12 first quarter advantage. This went up further in the second quarter at 37-26 with Kuan spearheading the offense.

It grew to as high as 30 points in the second half.

Kuan finished the match with 19 points.

Altubar and Caguimbaga added 12 markers apiece while Luis Viterbo chipped in 10 markers for ADI, which reached the Passerelle division finals for the first time since 2016.

ADI will tangle with defending champion St. Roberts International Academy Panda Rockets, a 55-51 winner over Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix in the other semis, in the championship match on Sept. 14 at the same venue.

In the SBP division, ADI and the Red Phoenix will once again face each other in the championship round for the sixth straight year after disposing their separate semifinals foes./PN
