ATENEO de lloilo-Santa Maria Catholic School Lady Dragons claimed the bronze medal in the 2018 Jesuit Athletic Meet girls volleyball on Monday evening at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu.

The Lady Dragons, the recently crowned 2018 Iloilo Schools Sports Association Meet secondary girls volleyball champions, defeated Xavier University.

Led by Elisha Apostol, Keiara Almirante, Christine Ladigohon, Robielle Silla, setter Hannah Jamotillo, and libero Fheb Rapadas, the Lady Dragons stymied Xavier by showing dominance from start to finish.

Other members of the Lady Dragons roster were Vanessa Marie Diaz, Debbie Marie Montinola, Althea Maloto, Theanna Acdol, Andrea Estonina, Angel Faith Luna, and MJ Tenorio.

Lady Dragons head coach Gilbert Danay said after the match that he was satisfied with his team’s showing in the tournament, which tested the maturity of the players.

“What we really looked forward to in this tournament was facing the top seeded teams,” Danay said. “While the win feels good … the team still values the camaraderie and friendship forged with the other players.”

The Jesuit Athletic Meet is a multisport event for the high school division/age group level featuring 10 Jesuit schools across the country. It is held every two years./PN
