Ateneo, John B., WIT bag ISSA volleyball titles

ATENEO de Iloilo Lady Dragons, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University and Western Institute of Technology captured championships in the 2018 ISSA Meet volleyball on Saturday at the Ateneo de Iloilo gym in Iloilo City.

The Lady Dragons bagged the title in secondary girls with a 25-20, 25-12, 25-16 victory over Sun Yat Sen High School Blue Lions.

Led by Elisha Apostol, Keiara Almirante, Christine Ladigohon, Robielle Silla, setter Hannah Jamotillo, and libero Fheb Rapadas, the Lady Dragons stunned the Blue Lions, which were unbeaten in the elimination round, to capture the title.

Hua Siong College of Iloilo Lady Phoenix got the third place trophy with come-from-behind 12-25, 25-20, 25-21 victory over University of San Agustin in the consolation round.

Meanwhile John B. clinched the crown in secondary boys after a 25-19, 25-16, 25-22 straight-set win over San Agustin.

WIT, meanwhile, squandered a two-set advantage before hanging on for a 25-18, 25-23, 22-25, 19-25, 15-12 win over San Agustin to capture the tertiary women’s category tiara.

Earlier championships won in the tournament include Ateneo de Iloilo Baby Dragons in elementary girls and Iloilo Doctors’ College in tertiary men./PN

  1. Good day! I just wanted to point out that the school which actually won third place at the ISSA Secondary Girls Volleyball Meet was actually the University of San Agustin, and not Hua Siong. To be fair, the girls from both schools played their hearts out, but it was the USA girls that dug deep and came from behind to win the game. I hope you will find a way to rectify this error, as the Agustinians played really hard for this win, only to be relegated to a lower standing due to what I believe is an honest error on your part. Thank you for your time.
