Officials from MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) lead a series of migration ceremonies across two Iloilo towns, marking key milestones in the utility’s provincial expansion. Highlighting the transition is the Pavia Municipal Hall, which became the first local government unit to officially switch to MORE Power on Oct. 26. Joining the shift are the Commission on Population and Development, alongside New Panay Agri-Ventures Development Inc., both in Pavia, and Egger Poultry Farm Incorporated in San Miguel, Iloilo.

Engr. Neil Martin Modina of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) addresses media and local government information officers on Thursday, Sept. 24, emphasizing that Panay Island needs a 150 megawatts power buffer to shield consumers from repeated grid alerts and manual load dropping. He says that frequent power interruptions on the island and other parts of the Visayas have been aggravated by aging generating plants and unplanned shutdowns. MORE POWER PHOTO

For decades, informal vending around the Iloilo Terminal Market — popularly known as “Super” — was tolerated, with vendors selling vegetables, candles, and local delicacies along sidewalks crowded with pedestrians and public transport. This caused congestion and sanitation problems that the city government now seeks to correct at the newly-rehabilitated market. ILOILO CITY GOV’T PHOTO
