Officials from MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) lead a series of migration ceremonies across two Iloilo towns, marking key milestones in the utility’s provincial expansion. Highlighting the transition is the Pavia Municipal Hall, which became the first local government unit to officially switch to MORE Power on Oct. 26. Joining the shift are the Commission on Population and Development, alongside New Panay Agri-Ventures Development Inc., both in Pavia, and Egger Poultry Farm Incorporated in San Miguel, Iloilo.

An aerial view shows Barangay San Rafael in Mandurriao, Iloilo City, which recorded the highest land subsidence rate in a study cited by marine science expert Dr. Fernando Siringan, sinking at 8.8 millimeters per year. Experts warn that continued reliance on deep wells for groundwater extraction accelerates land sinking and threatens to heighten flooding vulnerabilities across low-lying communities in Iloilo.
