BACOLOD City — Two men were killed in separate blade attacks that occurred less than two hours apart on Tuesday night, July 8, prompting the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to intensify its law enforcement operations.
The first incident was reported at about 9:40 p.m. in Purok Acacia 2, Barangay 27, where a 48-year-old man identified only by his alias “Joe,” a resident of Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, was allegedly stabbed by a suspect identified as alias “Rog,” a resident of Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
Police Station 4 personnel who responded to the scene found the victim with multiple stab wounds on different parts of his body. He was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
The suspect fled immediately after the attack and remains at large. Police have launched a hot pursuit operation while investigators continue to determine the motive and gather additional evidence.
Less than two hours later, at around 11:37 p.m., another fatal blade attack occurred in Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2.
According to the BCPO, responding personnel from Police Station 2, together with the Bacolod City Mobile Force Company, found an unidentified male victim who had allegedly been hacked with a cane knife.
The victim sustained fatal hack wounds on his left arm and the left side of his neck, resulting in his death.
Police immediately launched a hot pursuit operation that led to the arrest of the suspect, identified only as alias “Aw,” 24, a resident of Ayungon, Negros Oriental.
Authorities recovered from the suspect a 21-inch cane knife believed to have been used in the attack. He is now under the custody of Police Station 2 pending the filing of appropriate criminal charges.
Police have yet to determine whether the two fatal attacks are connected. Investigations into both incidents are ongoing./PN
