BACOLOD City – The City Health Office (CHO) here has suspended its weekend vaccination campaign at Ayala Malls for undisclosed reasons.
“We wish to inform the general public that the ‘Weekend Bakuna’ (vaccination conducted by BCHO every Saturday and Sunday) at Ayala Malls will be suspended effective July 19, 2025, until further notice,” read part of the advisory posted on the Bacolod CHO – Health Promotion Facebook page on July 17.
The post further advised residents to proceed to their nearest barangay health stations for their vaccination needs, including those of their children.
As of press time, Panay News has attempted to seek comment from CHO officials but they have not responded.
To recall, the weekend mall vaccination campaign was launched in May 2025 as part of the CHO’s intensified effort to achieve fully immunized children (FIC) status across the city. The program aimed to extend vaccination services during weekends by setting up accessible sites inside shopping malls.
Vaccines offered under the campaign included the Pentavalent (Penta HIB) vaccine, which protects against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib); the oral polio vaccine (OPV); the inactivated polio vaccine (IPV); and the MMR vaccine, which provides protection against measles, mumps, and rubella.
Regular vaccination activities continue to be available on weekdays at the city’s barangay health centers./PN
