BACOLOD City – The city government distributed financial assistance to families affected by recent fire incidents in six barangays as part of its continuing disaster response and social welfare program.
The payout was led by Mayor Greg Gasataya on February 3 at the Bacolod City College (BCC) Gym and was facilitated by the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD).
A total of 117 beneficiaries received cash assistance, with the city government allocating P1.255 million from local funds to help affected residents recover from property losses caused by the fires.
Of the beneficiaries, 62 were from Barangay 10, 19 from Barangay Banago, 18 from Barangay 26, 11 from Barangay Singcang-Airport, five from Barangay Bata, and two from Barangay Alijis.
The amount of assistance varied based on the assessment of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Families whose houses were totally damaged received P15,000 each, while those with partially damaged houses received P10,000. Renters and sharers also qualified for assistance and received P5,000 each.
Mayor Gasataya said the financial aid forms part of the city government’s ongoing efforts to provide immediate relief to disaster victims and support their recovery.
“This assistance aims to help families start rebuilding their lives after these unfortunate incidents,” the mayor said./PN
