BACOLOD City – Two regular employees of the city government were meted with a 60-day preventive suspension over administrative charges for gross misconduct.
The City Legal Office (CLO) served the order to the two employees yesterday, Feb. 12.
Legal officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr. said that the names of the accused employees are being withheld in the meantime while the case is ongoing.
The said employees were assigned as building inspectors at the Office of the Building Official. They allegedly demanded P5,000 from a client with a business establishment on Jan. 11 to expedite the OBO clearance approval.
“There will be a prosecuting attorney, but they have the option to be presented by a lawyer,” Ting, who will serve as the hearing officer, explained.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said the city government will be unrelenting in its anti-corruption drive, even if it means suspending a huge number of employees.
“These are the things we will never tolerate… Indi man pwedi pabay-an ta lang sila nga waay ta may mahimo,” the mayor stressed./PN
