BACOLOD City – Bacolod Tay Tung High School reaffirmed its status as the city’s most dominant age-group volleyball program after sweeping all its assignments to rule the elementary girls division of the Bacolod City Division Meet on Thursday at Montalbo Gym.
Riding a blend of depth, disciplined execution, and tournament-tested composure, the Thunderbolts went undefeated from eliminations to finals, dispatching public and private school opponents with little resistance.
Tay Tung opened its title campaign with a commanding win over Mandalagan Elementary School, then followed it up with back-to-back victories against Apolinario Mabini Elementary School and Handumanan Elementary School to complete a clean sweep of the preliminaries.
The Thunderbolts sustained their momentum in the semifinals, overpowering Elimia J. Garcia Elementary School to secure another finals berth.
In the championship match, Tay Tung once again faced Mandalagan Elementary School. Showing improved chemistry and sharper ball control, the Thunderbolts dominated from start to finish to secure the crown and book their place in the regional meet.
Head coach Biboy Calamba praised his team’s consistency and commitment. “Credit to the girls’ hard work for our successful campaign,” he said. “Their discipline and steady improvement throughout the tournament serve as key factors in our title run.”
The championship roster featured a well-balanced unit composed of Mhegan Ordaniel, Samantha Valenciano, Chloe Depalubos, Janselle Peromingan, Andrea Lorainne Lim, Andrea Zedd Chua, Jeydi Crystal Panisales, Dubhe Medina, Cielo Palabrica, Xyriz Cañete, Sofia Miralles, Micayla Gonzales, Ariana Jen Barredo, Ayanna Tiu, and Ylijah Maestrecampo.
With the city title secured, Tay Tung now braces for tougher and taller opponents in the regional meet—an opportunity for the young Thunderbolts to further elevate their game and fight for a spot in future national competitions./PN
