Bacolod City records 9th COVID-19 case

BACOLOD City – The city has recorded a new case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a 65-year-old woman from Barangay Banago.

City Health Office Environment and Sanitation Division chief Grace Tan confirmed this yesterday, saying the patient had no history of travel to places with confirmed COVID-19 and it has no close contact to a COVID-19 positive.

“The patient possibly acquired the virus through local transmission,” said Tan, who chairs the City Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19.

The patient sought consultation at the Bacolod Respiratory Outpatient at the BAYS Center on April 17, after showing symptoms of cough and sore throat.

A swab sample was done to the patient and her specimen was sent to the bio laboratory in Iloilo City on April 20. The result came out yesterday.

Tan said the patient is now being home quarantined and in stable condition.

She added that they will validate if the patient had already completed her maintenance for tuberculosis.

The CHO is conducting a contact tracing in the said area particularly in Purok Bayanihan, where the patient’s house was located.

According to Tan, the area will be placed under lockdown considering that it is now an “ultra risk area.”/PN
