BACOLOD City – A commercial sex worker was gunned down in broad daylight by motorcycle-riding gunmen outside the Bredco Port in a part of Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2 yesterday afternoon.
Renalyn “Mayang” Maming, a native of La Castellana, Negros Occidental and between 23 to 24 years old, died instantly.
She was walking when attacked, according to Police Lieutenant Jonito Pastrana, deputy commander of Police Station 2.
A single shot was fired then the gunmen fled south.
Maming succumbed to a gunshot on the forehead.
Responding policemen recovered from the crime scene one spent bullet shell of a .45 handgun.
Maming had no known relatives in Bacolod City and her clients were mostly truck drivers at the city’s port area, Pastrana said.
But the police also received information linking Maming to incidents of thievery victimizing truck drivers at Bredco Port. The usual stolen items were drivers’ wallets, mobile phones and identification cards.
Three days prior to the shooting, according to Pastrana, two unidentified men were looking for Maming./PN
