Bacolod cops arrest carnapping suspect, nab three in drug bust

BACOLOD City – Operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office’s (BCPO) Police Station 2 (PS2) arrested a 26-year-old man for alleged carnapping and apprehended three suspected drug personalities in a separate operation conducted over the weekend.

The carnapping suspect, identified only as alias “Stephen,” a resident of Barangay Bata here, was caught for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10883, or the Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016. The incident occurred at around 3 p.m. on January 17 in Purok Tahong, Barangay 3, police said.

Police said PS2 received a phone call from the complainant reporting that the carnapping had just taken place. Responding police officers immediately proceeded to the area and conducted an on-the-spot investigation, which led to the suspect’s arrest.

The suspect was brought to PS2 for proper disposition. Police reported that he sustained minor injuries after attempting to flee and was reportedly mauled by bystanders before police intervened. He remained under police custody as authorities prepared the appropriate charges. Further investigation was ongoing.

Meanwhile, three suspects were apprehended in a buy-bust operation carried out by PS2 operatives at around 12:09 a.m. on January 19 in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2.

Seized during the operation were approximately 105 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P714,000.

The suspects were identified as aliases “Jessie,” 19, of Barangay 10, and “Joven,” 23, of Barangay 12, both classified as high-value individuals; and “John,” 18, of Barangay 9, identified as a street-level individual.
