BACOLOD City — A two-storey house was destroyed in a fire at Grandville 3, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, on Wednesday afternoon, August 12, causing an estimated P750,000 in property damage.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported that the fire broke out at around 5:40 p.m. and was declared under control at approximately 5:51 p.m.

An initial investigation showed that the fire originated from the back portion of a built-in cabinet on the second floor.

The flames quickly spread throughout the house, which was made of concrete and light materials.

No injuries or fatalities were reported.

Several BFP fire trucks, along with volunteer fire brigades, responded to the incident and helped contain the blaze.

The BFP suspected that an electrical ignition may have caused the fire, although the investigation remains ongoing.

Fire authorities reminded the public to regularly inspect electrical connections and immediately unplug appliances that emit smoke or unusual odors.

Residents were also advised to have defective electrical equipment repaired to reduce the risk of fire./PN
