BACOLOD City – This capital city is preparing for the 39th MassKara Festival from Oct. 8 to 28.

The three-day highlights will be from Oct. 26 to 28, according to event organizer Silver MassKara Festival Organization (SMFO), Inc.

The SMFO announced on Friday that the 21-day MassKara will be a “long party” to celebrate Bacolod City’s 80th founding anniversary.

The festival’s main events will be held in three festival sites – the public plaza, Tourism Strip on Lacson Street and the Bacolod City Government Center ground.

Among the events already lined up are Grand Children’s Party; Nights of Mardi Gras; Tanda! Sing Na, Dance Pa; Magical MassKara; MassKara Drum Beating Contest; MassKara Fashion Show; MassKara Faces: The 1st MassKara Fantasy Make-up Competition; Sadya ang MassKara Fireworks Competition; Electric MassKara; and the much-anticipated street and arena dance competition.

The Electric MassKara floats competition will be held during the festival highlights.

The street and arena dance contest, meanwhile, will be on Oct. 27 (school category) and 28 (barangay category).

The SMFO said there will be 15 groups to join the barangay category this year. (With a report from PNA/PN)
