Bacolod may extend sanitary services contract

BACOLOD City – Due to time constraints, the city government may extend the contract of IPM-Construction and Development Corp. (IPM-CDC) for sanitary services.

The IPM-CDC collects and hauls garbage. Its contract with the city government is only until Dec. 31, 2022 as ratified by the city council in April.

The city council’s committee on finance and appropriations chairperson, Councilor Thaddeus Sayson, said the city government may extend the contract because it is yet to start the procurement process for a new hauler.

Based on the proposed P3.25 billion annual budget of the city for 2023, sanitary services is allotted P200 million.

Sayson said the city government cannot hold a bid for sanitary services because the proposed annual budget is not yet approved.

Only after the proposed budget is approved can the city government begin the procurement process for sanitary services.

The procurement process will take several weeks to finish while the IPM-CDC contract is due at the end of this month.

The city government can extend it for about three months./PN
