BACOLOD City — Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in this city are being positioned to enter the global market through a new partnership between the Bacolod City Government and Shopee Philippines, aimed at transforming local businesses into competitive online exporters.
At least 100 Bacolod-based MSMEs underwent digital upskilling under the “Tatak Pinoy MSME Workshop,” equipping them with the knowledge and tools to sell products not only nationwide but also internationally through the e-commerce platform.
Mayor Greg Gasataya welcomed the initiative, emphasizing its significance in opening broader opportunities for local entrepreneurs amid current economic challenges, including rising fuel costs.
“This is a timely collaboration that will help our local businesses expand and claim their share in the global market,” he said.
The program forms part of Shopee’s “Tatak Pinoy Roadshow,” which was launched during a ceremonial event at the Bacolod City Government Center on March 30.
Joining the mayor were members of the City Council, who expressed gratitude to Shopee Philippines, represented by its Head of Commercial, Jack Ng, for partnering with the local government.
“We thank Shopee and its team for this initiative, which will give Bacolod MSMEs more opportunities to showcase their products and boost their sales,” Gasataya added.
Beyond basic online selling, the training covers setting up digital storefronts, marketing strategies, logistics, and order fulfillment—key components in scaling businesses beyond local markets.
The company will also assess participating MSMEs for onboarding readiness to ensure they are equipped to operate in the digital marketplace.
“We aim to unlock the untapped potential of regional businesses and equip them with the tools and knowledge needed for online success,” Ng said./PN
