Bacolod, Negros teams in Rebisco volley legs

BACOLOD City – Squads from Bacolod City and Negros Occidental are set to compete for the right to represent Western Visayas in the Rebisco Volleyball League National Finals.

According to area director Roberto Calamba Jr., six teams will compete in the Bacolod leg, while nine teams are participating in the Negros Occidental leg.

He added that the Bacolod City leg is to be held at Bacolod Tay Tung Covered Court on Sept. 4 and the Negros Occidental leg is on Sept. 9 at Pontevedra Gym.

“The Bacolod and Negros Occidental legs will be for one day event and top two finishers per leg will advance in the regional finals,” Calamba told Panay News on Friday.

Bannering the Bacolod City leg were Bacolod Tay Tung-Senior High, Bacolod Tay Tung-Junior High, St. John’s Institute, Trinity Christian School, University of St. La Salle and Living Stone International School.

The Negros Occidental leg will have Himamaylan, Silay, Talisay, Pontevedra, Maao, San Carlos, La Carlota, Hinigaran National High School and Hinigaran Institute.

Apart from Bacolod City and Negros Occidental legs, the Aklan leg was held last Friday, while the Iloilo City and Iloilo Province is slated today at Hua Siong College of Iloilo.

The top-two finishers from the five Western Visayas legs will then travel to San Carlos City in Negros Occidental for the Rebisco Regional Finals on Sept. 7 and 8.

The Thunderbolts had a decent showing in the 2019 RVL National Finals where they reached the semifinals only to suffer back-to-back defeats and end the tournament at fourth place./PN
