BACOLOD City – The Dangerous Drugs Board has chosen this city to host the observance of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Thus, the Sangguniang Panglungsod is urging barangays and senior high schools to participate in the event on June 26.

Councilor Em Ang said that in pursuant to the United Nations declaration dated Dec. 7, 1987 and Presidential Proclamation No. 264, the Dangerous Drugs Board is mandated by the law to spearhead the observance of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking that is also simultaneously observed by UN–member countries.

Ang said there is a need for the participation of all barangays and senior high schools in Bacolod City to raise awareness on the dangers associated with dangerous and illicit drugs, mobilize support for drug control, and intensify the drive to make this city 100 percent drug-free./PN
