BACOLOD City – The Permits and Licensing Division (PLD) in cooperation with the City Treasurer’s Office will conduct an inspection on boardinghouses and dormitories in this city starting June 15.
The inspection is to ensure the safety of the students with the onset of the school year, said PLD head Stela Rose Rayos.
Rayos explained that boardinghouses who have business permits have complied their clearances from the Bureau of Fire, City Health Office, and Zoning, among others.
If the boardinghouse owner or operator has no business permit, the PLD will issue a first notice. After a week of non-processing, the office will issue an end notice and endorse the name of the operator to the City Legal Office, Rayos said.
The PLD head disclosed that more than 100 boardinghouse owners already applied for a business permit from them.
Rayos furthermore reminded boardinghouse and dorm operators to post their Mayor’s Permit.
She added that as of now, they prioritize the inspection on boardinghouses due to the opening of classes.
However, if the service vehicle for the agency arrives, a team will also conduct inspections on all business establishments in the city.
Meanwhile, City Fire Marshall Superintendent Rodolfo Denaga earlier said they already conducted inspections on all boardinghouses in this capital city.
The inspection was part of the agency’s participation in the Brigada Eskwela, said Denaga.
A Notice to Comply has been served to the boarding houses for noncompliance with the law, Denaga added./PN
