MANILA – University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers head coach Aldin Ayo has nothing but good words for Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts graduating forward Mart James Barrera.

Thunderbolts team manager Roger Montalbo said the Negrense Barrera passed all the skills test given to him during his two-day tryout, but the only downside noticed by the Tigers’ coaching staff was his thin frame.

Barrera was one of the key players for the Thunderbolts in their title run in the NBTC-Bacolod leg, where it defeated STI-West Negros University Junior Mustangs in best-of-three title series.

Aside from UST, also a number of Manila-based schools, including De La Salle University Green Archers and Adamson University Falcons, also wanted to take a look on Barrera, according to Montalbo.

“I am not surprised that he is gaining attention kasi ang laki ng inimprove ng laro niya,” Montalbo said. “He is really playing inspired basketball for some reason so he will really be a huge help kung anu mang school siya mapunta.”/PN
