BACOLOD City – A man trying to pacify a gun-toting friend was shot to death in Barangay Banago.
Arnold Villarias, 42, died of four gunshot wounds on the chest, neck, head, and a foot.
On Friday evening, Villarias was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital but was declared “dead on arrival.”
Police Station 3 identified a suspect – Eden Sumbang, 38, also of Barangay Banago.
Sumbang fled after the shooting but was arrested in a police follow-up operation at his aunt’s house.
Prior to the shooting, Sumbang was binge drinking with Villarias’ cousin, initial police investigation showed.
A drunken Sumbang later fired his gun, upsetting Villarias’ aunt.
According to witnesses, Villarias confronted Sumbang about this. Sumbang got mad and shot Villarias.
As of this writing, Sumbang was detained at Police Station 3./PN
