ILOILO City – A Philippine Army soldier got wounded. Three armed men strafed his house in Barangay Lucas, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo.
Corporal Felizardo Barrida, 42, was taken to the Barotac Viejo District Hospital for gunshot wounds on the right thigh and left foot.
The strafing occurred on Wednesday around 8 p.m.
Barrida was in his house with a cousin, nephew and wife, according to Chief Inspector Johnny Arevalo, Barotac Viejo police chief.
According to witnesses, there were three gunmen.
These men also tried to enter Barrida’s house but the door was locked, said Arevalo, citing statements from witnesses.
Responding policemen recovered five empty shells of a .45 pistol and .9mm pistol.
“We are entertaining all possible angles. The strafing could be work-related or some people may have harbored a grudge on Barrida,” said Arevalo.
Barrida’s cousin, nephew and wife were unhurt./PN
