ILOILO – In the towns of Pototan and Dumangas, conmen were reportedly passing themselves off as inspectors of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to enter houses. Beware of these impostors, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
These impostors told unsuspecting households they were tasked to check liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanks and electrical connections.
According to the BFP assistant regional director, Fire Chief Inspector Lester Kenneth Gimotea, they have not ordered their personnel to do this.
“We do not have that kind of inspection. What we do is inspect for fire code compliance before the house’s construction, during the construction and after the construction,” said Gimotea.
If ever they conduct inspections, BFP personnel always wear their uniform and identification card, and present to the household an Inspection Certificate, said Gimotea.
From what BFP-6 gathered, the fake inspectors in Pototan and Dumangas were not even wearing BFP uniforms.
Alert the police should there be persons identifying themselves as BFP personnel tasked to conduct inspections of houses, Gimotea urged Ilonggos./PN
