ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Traffic Management is warning motorcycle owners.
“Motornappers” have a new modus operandi in stealing motorcycles, said Superintendent Alexander Rosales, traffic chief of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).
The 29-year-old Alma Mae Mission of Barangay Taft North, Mandurriao district complained to the police that an unidentified man took her motorcycle away on Sunday in Barangay Luna, La Paz district.
While at her store in Barangay Nonoy, City Proper, a man approached her and told her that her husband bought a cellular at a mall.
This man further claimed he was told by the husband to fetch Mission so she could get her husband’s new phone at a mall in La Paz.
Mission said she used her black motorcycle with the suspect as back rider to go to the mall. Before reaching the mall, however, the man told her to first buy a plastic bag where to later put the phone she would be getting.
Mission said she agreed, got down her motorcycle and looked for a plastic bag.
The man suddenly drove her motorcycle away, Mission told the police.
“These motornappers would pose as a relative or friend tapos mangita sila paagi kun paano nila makuha ang motor,” said Rosales.
He ordered his men to help Mission find her stolen motorcycle./PN
