Beyond 50

INSPIRED by all the positive comments on my posts since New Year’s Day, I’m collecting here all my significant short Facebook posts for posterity:

*

YOUR OWN HAPPINESS MATTERS.

Enough of martyrdom and self-sacrifice already.

It’s the third decade of the third millennium already.

*

NO OTHER WAY

but to live

this ONE life

to the FULLEST.

*

If you are truly honest and not deluded, we will all go to hell.

So I want all my real friends to do what makes them happy in 2020.

Don’t make me enjoy hell fun alone.

Love life.

See you all in hell, happy people!

I also reposted a Facebook memory from six years ago with this status report:

“Ass doesn’t look like this anymore.

But so glad I had it photographed when it was in great shape.

So ready to be 51!”

*

The original post had this status statement, and corresponding photo:

“In My Birthday Suit:

I’m turning 45 on January 6, and as part of the GREATNESS AT 45 project, I reviewed my past and found this bravado of youth picture, “Fearless Butt” (c. 2005).

I own all of my 45 years, all my youthful mistakes, and glories.

Thank you!”

*

And because I walked around the city of Vancouver on the night before my birthday, hoping I’d be cruised (Haha!), this:

“To wander in the city in the wee hours.

Because life is too short to be spent just sleeping.”

I really want to wander other cities with someone young.

Also reposted was my portrait photograph by my friend Eric Barbosa, Jr.

Reposted from last year’s memory bank, which has this status update text:

“THE GREAT PETER SOLIS NERY (b. January 6, 1969) AT FIFTY:

Teaching the world to be grateful.

One good thing each single day until we die.

Because we always survive even the worst days of our lives.

And even false hope is hope.

Here’s to grateful hearts!”

Hours before midnight of January 5, my birthday wishes have started to come in from the Philippines, so this:

Where I am on the planet right now, it’s still 8hrs 20 mins before my 51stbirthday.

But my wish is that all those who wish me well (and they are many) will be given a measure of what they wish for me.

And those who wish me evil (especially because they are so few), will be given a double measure.

I mean, if some people wish me dead, I want them double dead.

If they want me to fall, I want them to fall, and crawl! Haha.

Oh, for those who didn’t wish me anything, they get nothing of course.

Quid pro quo! Haha.

The joy of being beyond 50—saying what really matters without giving a f*ck!

On my 51stbirthday, I stayed largely at home.

I did some prayer time, and reflection on my life so far.

The Ten Summations I came up with was awesome.

It garnered a lot of praise, and had plenty of reposting on Facebook.

If you missed it online, don’t miss my next column! (500tinaga@gmail.com/PN)
