BACOLOD City – The City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) posted big amount of real property tax (RPT) collections in the last week of December last year, according to the local treasury operations officer Arlene Memoria.
CTO’s Land Tax Division collected P60-million worth of RPT on Dec. 29 alone. It is the biggest single-day collection recorded, said Memoria.
On Dec. 31, the Land Tax Division collected P42 million, P33 million on Dec. 26, P20 million on Dec. 28, P13 million on Dec. 30, and P9 million on Dec. 27.
These collections were from the advanced 2018 RPT payments, according to Memoria.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the “overwhelming land tax payment” indicates that “business confidence” was now restored in Bacolod.
“We wish to see that business confidence is restored and a climate conducive for business and industry is established,” Leonardia said. “I would like to thank the public for its cooperation to our thrust of making Bacolod more business-friendly.”
One-stop shop
Meanwhile, the city government set up a Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) aimed at making easier and faster the processing of business permits.
The BOSS started operating on Jan. 3 and will run until Jan. 20.
The Bureau of Fire Protection, City Health Office, City Permits and Licensing Division, City Treasurer’s Office Licensing Division, and City Planning and Development Office Zoning Division have put up their booths at the Bacolod City Government Center lobby, atrium and annex building so that the public can save time transacting their permits.
Leonardia also issued a local executive order requiring all villages in the city to set up desks at city hall so business owners can process their barangay clearances there.
Stela Rose Rayos, head of the City Permits and Licensing Division, said the BOSS is open from Mondays to Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Rayos added that business permits – with complete requirements – can be released in a matter of hours, or in some cases, a day or two. (With Bacolod City PIO/PN)
