ANTIQUE — The Binirayan Art Exhibit is now officially open to the public, unveiling a diverse collection of artworks that celebrate Antique’s creativity, culture, and heritage.
This year’s exhibit features two curated galleries showcasing the works of more than 60 Antiqueño artists, drawing crowds as part of the ongoing Binirayan Festival.
One of the main highlights of the exhibit is a painting of the late Governor Evelio B. Javier—fondly remembered as Beloy or EBJ—displayed at Gallery 1 in the Old Provincial Capitol. Created by Antiqueño artist Jan Frederick Grafane, the artwork pays tribute to Javier’s enduring legacy and his historic role in founding the Binirayan Festival in 1974. The portrait has become a focal point for visitors and history enthusiasts alike.
Running from December 1 to 29 and organized by the Kruhay Antique Foundation, the exhibit opened on December 8 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Gov. Paolo Javier. He was joined by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members Fernando Corvera, Zoilo Bernardo Tubianosa, and Mart Giric Galedo; San Jose SB Member RG Gayatin; and members of KAF.
Gov. Javier commended the participating artists and organizers for elevating Antique’s cultural identity through art.
“Sa aton mga guests, I hope you enjoy and see what Antique can show to the Philippines and to the world. We are very proud sa ating mga Antiqueño artists and to those who have coordinated and helped us build this art exhibit. Hopefully next Binirayan Festival mas damo pagid nga artists ang mag-intra,” he said.
Gallery 1 at the Old Provincial Capitol features works that depict Antique’s landscapes, traditions, and people. Grafane’s painting of EBJ is displayed alongside pieces by Earl Artiga, Reynaldo J. De la Peña, Arch. Leo P. Del Socorro, Niño and Nhelmarshawn Grantos, Jun Rey Lumugdang, Mark D. Gumboc, Gabriel Dave Luces, and many others.
Gallery 2 at Balay nga Bato in Barangay 4 presents an expansive mix of themes—from nature and spirituality to contemporary interpretations—featuring artworks from emerging and established artists such as Emman Arzaga, Vicente Azurin Jr., Angela Casidsid, Frinzelle Dela Vega, Hershey Vien Quimpo, and Mark Gil Zaldivar, among others.
