
ILOILO City – A total of 501 violators were arrested during a weeklong simultaneous anti-criminality and law enforcement operations dubbed as “Birada Semana” in Western Visayas.
The violators were composed of 267 wanted persons, 67 illegal drug personalities, six for offenses under the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunitions Regulation Act and 161 for illegal gambling, according to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
The 267 wanted persons were arrested in 251 operations by the various police units in the region.
In the campaign against illegal drugs, the 67 arrested persons yielded a total of 358 grams of suspected shabu and 8.3 grams of marijuana with a total estimated drug value at P2,624,358.00.
Six were nabbed for illegal possession of firearms and 157 firearms as well as 26 explosives were surrendered and deposited to different police units across the region while a total of 50 operations that resulted in the arrest of 161 persons with the recovery of a total of P28,739.00 bet money on the campaign against illegal gambling during the period.
PRO 6 director Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo said that they will sustain and intensify their operations against various illegal activities. (PIA-6/PN)
