BACOLOD City – The Permits and License Division (PLD) will make rounds in the city to check for business permits.
Inspection of establishments will start March 15, PLD head Stela Rose Rayos said.
The PLD will also check if the details indicated in the business permit correspond to what the establishment actually has.
Those that will be found operating without a business permit will be compelled to get one, Rayos stressed.
The Business One-Stop Shop at city hall ended on Feb. 28.
Anyone renewing their business permit or applying for a new one beginning March 1 may no longer avail themselves of a 20-percent processing fee discount.
The Business One-Stop Shop was a shortened system in applying for or renewing business permits. It was supposed to end on Jan. 20, but the city government extended it, citing “a number” of establishments yet to renew their permits.
Agencies where businesses get permits — Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Social Security System, and barangays (for barangay clearances), among others — participated.
The number of business registrants from January to February this year increased 15 percent, Rayos said, citing PLD records. From 14,911 in the same period in 2016, the number reached 17,179 this year.
“It only means the city gained confidence from the business community. And it is a positive sign,” Rayos said, adding that they may surpass the over 19,000 total business registrations in 2016.
Meanwhile Local Treasury Operation Officer Lilibeth Gamboa of the City Treasurer’s Office said collections from business tax, mayor’s permit and regulatory fees, and other fees from January and February this year reached P354,142,779.10.
Collections in the same period last year reached P312,136,676.21./PN
