MANILA – Blackwater Bossing continued its winning run in the 2024 PBA Governors’ Cup after 110-99 triumph over NLEX Road Warriors last night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
Jeth Troy Rosario finished with a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds to be named Player of the Game as the Bossing notched their third consecutive win for a 3-3 win-loss slate, tying the Road Warriors.
The Bossing set the tone early with their outside conversions for a 28-21 lead before continuing their run in the second period to widen the lead to 61-44 at the half.
The Road Warriors got their shots to fall in the second half to cut the deficit to 79-88 but the Bossing answered with conversions from George King and Rosario to reestablish a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
The victory served as a bounce back for the streaking Bossing after losing to the Road Warriors in their first encounter last August 22, 104-87.
“We are just using the momentum (of our winning streak) to get us going. We know we have to play everybody all over again, but we’re excited for that,” said Bossing head coach Jeff Cariaso.
On Thursday night, June Mar Fajardo knocked down a buzzer-beating two-pointer as San Miguel Beermen pulled off a 113-112 escape over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
Down 112-111 after four free throws by Painters rookie Felix Pangilinan-Lemetti with three seconds left, Fajardo converted a basket from the perimeter area to surge the Beermen ahead for good.
Fajardo, the reigning PBA MVP, finished with a double-double of 27 points and 21 rebounds as the Beermen halted a two-game losing skid to improve to a 3-2 win-loss slate.
“Wala na, kailangan na itira eh kasi dying seconds na, tapos mabuti at nakuha namin ‘yung panalo,” Fajardo said on his game-winner. “Kailangan namin itong panalo kasi kung hindi (namin makuha) magiging 2-3 kami.”/PN
