ILOILO – Fugitive drug suspect Ernesto Bolivar of Barangay Guinacas, Pototan, Iloilo will be arrested. It’s just a matter of time, according to the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).
With the recent arrest of drug and murder suspect Federico Balume Sr. of Sara, Iloilo, Bolivar became IPPO’s priority for arrest.
Bolivar, 41, is a suspected subgroup leader of slain drug lord Richard Prevendido operating in northern Iloilo and Capiz province.
According to Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba, his men were closing in on Bolivar, who has a pending arrest warrant for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) subjected Bolivar to a buy-bust operation in 2016. He managed to escape but operatives were able to recover a large plastic sachet of shabu.
“We check all information we receive about Bolivar’s supposed locations,” said Tayaba.
Previous sightings of Bolivar included towns in Capiz and Iloilo, and even areas in Iloilo City.
“Bolivar is so mobile but we’ll get him,” said Tayaba.
He urged the suspect to better surrender peacefully to the police.
In last year’s buy-bust operation targeting Bolivar, the suspect fled after selling to a PDEA poseur buyer shabu for P15,000.
He ran away after realizing he was being entrapped, according to then PDEA assistant regional director Levi Ortiz.
“’Yung lugar kasi niya was a compound. Bago ka makapasok sa bahay, may gate na dadaanan. During the transaction, ‘yung ibang tropa natin hindi pa kasama. Na-sense niya na may iba pang kasama. At saka ‘yung paligid eh may relatives siya. Siguro naka-timbre kaya tumakbo agad,” said Ortiz.
Bolivar fled with the P15,000 that the PDEA poseur buyer gave him.
“Siya ang may malaking market outside Iloilo City sa drug trade,” Ortiz added.
At the time of the buy-bust operation, Bolivar was out on bail. He was charged with violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 following a raid of his house in June 2011. He and nine other suspects were arrested by operatives of the IPPO.
Aside from 19 sachets of suspected shabu, cops also recovered from Bolivar’s house two .45 pistols, an M16 Armalite rifle and ammunitions./PN
