Boracay int’l arrivals grow 355%

BORACAY – International arrivals to Boracay Island have reached 381,730 in the first 10 months of 2023, up by 355 percent compared to the same period last year with 83,784, according to the Malay Municipal Tourism Office.

Inbound tourism markets are showing signs of a massive influx to Boracay Island, with 6,000 tourists a day in peak season.

The popular island destination has become more accessible to tourists from neighboring countries with direct regional flights from South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland China through Kalibo International Airport and Caticlan Airport.

Domestic tourist arrivals also registered a 5.94 percent increase, from 1,325,834 to 1,404,633.

In 2022, Boracay welcomed 29,749 overseas Filipino workers, compared to 35,231 this year.

Overall, tourist numbers rose by 26.55 percent, from 1,439,367 to 1,821,594.

Boracay is on track to reach its goal of 2 million tourist arrivals by 2023, as inbound travelers are forecast to rise sharply this year./PN
