122 gun-ban violators nabbed

ILOILO – A total of 122 persons have so far been arrested for violation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban in Western Visayas.

As of the Nov. 5 data from Police Regional Office 6, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (PPO) had the most number of arrests with 32.

The Iloilo PPO followed with 21, the Bacolod City Police Office (CPO) recorded 18, the Iloilo CPO recorded 16, the Capiz PPO recorded 14, the Aklan PPO recorded 11 and the Antique PPO recorded two.

Meanwhile, the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 had four arrests.

During this period, a total of 23,739 checkpoints were established by 147 police stations across the region.

Further, 91 loose firearms were confiscated, 413 were seized during apprehensions, and 180 firearms were voluntarily surrendered or deposited.

Carrying and possessing firearms and other deadly weapons are prohibited until Nov. 29, 2023./PN
