BORACAY – A suspected big-time illegal drug dealer and two others were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Balabag.
Antidrug agents and police officers swooped down on Angelica “Angie” Bangalisan after receiving a report that she received an alleged drug shipment from Mindoro via a roll-on, roll-off vessel.
“Malaki siyang (drug) pusher sa isla,” Chief Inspector Frenzy Andrade, leader of Team C of the Aklan Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, said in a radio interview. “Karamihan sa kliyente niya mga turista at tricycle drivers.”
Bangalisan, 28, a native of Barangay Nagustan, Nabas, Aklan, was arrested in a nipa hut along with Fernando Polintan, 37, of Barangay Lonoy, Roxas City, Capiz and Cherly Javier, 31, of Barangay Aliputos, Numancia, Aklan.
Police said the suspects conspired to sell to an undercover operative two plastic packs of suspected shabu for P1,000 at around 3:15 p.m. on Sunday.
Polintan, an electric tricycle driver temporarily staying in Sitio Tambisaan, Barangay Manoc-manoc, was the subject of the buy-bust. He said he got his supply from Bangalisan.
In an adjacent boardinghouse, operatives found on a table suspected shabu being repacked. They considered the boardinghouse a “drug den.”
Bangalisan admitted renting the boardinghouse for P5,000 a month. There, she would have “pot sessions” when customers buy illegal drugs at the nipa hut, the suspect said.
Thirty-three plastic packs of suspected shabu, two improvised tooters, lighters, a pair of scissors, and a mobile phone were also seized.
All the seized alleged shabu — estimated at P50,000 — were taken to the Police Regional Office 6 crime laboratory in Iloilo City.
The suspects were detained. They were facing charges for violation of sections 5 (selling), 11 (possession) and 12 (visiting a drug den) of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
