BORACAY – This island resort will host an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meeting from Nov. 14 to 17, a local task force official said.
Joint Task Force Boracay was on red alert to ensure the safety of the organizers and the delegates, said Executive Director Rowen Aguirre.
Task force members have started discussing security procedures on Wednesday, he said.
They included representatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police and Philippine Coast Guard, among others.
“We are ready for deployment,” Aguirre said. “We will simply follow the measures we applied during the ASEAN meeting in the island in February.”
But the Joint Task Force Boracay top official cannot yet say for certain what specific ASEAN meeting will be held in the island.
Citing information from the organizers, Aguirre said it will be on the “ASEAN Intellectual Property Office” and the venue will be at Hennan Resort. (PNA)
