BORACAY – A 38-year-old tour guide had been arrested for selling “vitamins.”
“Vitamins,” according to the police, was slang for illegal drugs — at least among suspected pushers and users.
Rammil Licerio of Barangay Manoc-manoc was caught in Sitio Malabunot. He sold seven sachets of shabu to an undercover police officer for P1,000.
“Tawag nila sa mga drugs ay ‘vitamins,’” said Senior Inspector Jess Baylon, head of the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center (BTAC). “Ang suspek ay isang pusher-user na nagbebenta ng droga sa mga guests niya.”
Operatives from the BTAC and the Municipal Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group of Malay, Aklan staged the operation around 8 p.m. on Oct. 15.
According to Baylon, Licerio was a newly identified drug personality in the island resort.
“Ang pamilya ni Licerio ay nagsasabing gawa-gawa na naman ito ng mga pulis,” said Baylon.
“Sinusunod lang natin ang police operational procedures sa mga ganitong operation,” he stressed.
On Oct. 12, the BTAC also caught a resident of Bago City, Negros Occidental selling an illegal drug in Sitio Bantud, also in Manoc-manoc.
Two sachets of shabu and a P1,000 marked money were seized from Steve Bonza.
Both Licerio and Bonza were detained and facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
