Bowler notches Philippines’ second Asian Para Games gold

KIM IAN CHI copped the Philippines’ second gold in the 2018 Asian Para Games, winning the bowling mixed singles at the Jaya Ancol Bowling Center in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Chi took the gold in the TPB10 class on Monday with a total of 1388 pinfalls in six games to beat Hong Wonju of Korea, who tallied 1379.

Phisitthanakul Raiwin of Thailand, who had 1330, tied with Tan Swang Hee of Singapore for the bronze medal.

The 39-year-old Chi tallied an average score of 231.30.

Hong Wonju scored 229.80 while Phisitthanakul Raiwin and Tan Swang Hee had 221.70 points.

Chi became the second gold medalist for the Philippines after swimmer Ernie Gawilan won the men’s 200m individual medley SM7 on Sunday.

Monday also saw Arthus Bucay taking the bronze medal in the men’s time trial C5 to give the Philippines a 2-2-2 gold-silver-bronze tally.
