BACOLOD City – A four-year-old boy was ran over by a pickup truck near the Burgos Public Market.

According to Captain Francis Depasucat, chief of Bacolod City’s Police Station 4, the accident took place in front of an establishment in Barangay 22, where the child was hit by the reversing vehicle on Saturday night, Feb. 24.

Depasucat said the driver may not have seen the child playing behind the vehicle. He added that the driver claimed to have checked the side mirror before driving and proceeded cautiously.

The child was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

An initial settlement has been reached between the child’s family and the driver involved.

Through Panay News, Depasucat advised parents to keep an eye on their children, especially near busy roads.
