BRENT Manalo, one-half of the Big Winner duo of “Pinoy Big Brother (PBB): Celebrity Collab” edition, confessed that the reality show was his last attempt to make it in the entertainment industry.

Manalo made the revelation during a Star Magic Spotlight media con, when asked to share a fact about himself that not a lot of people knew.

Sa pagsali ko sa ‘PBB,’ ito na ‘yung last straw ko for show biz. If hindi pa mag-work sa’kin ‘yung PBB, baka mag-quit na ako since nakailang rejections na ako. May time nang naniwala na ako that it wasn’t possible for me to really make it big in show biz,” he said.

Throughout his stay at the Bahay ni Kuya, Manalo was noted for his quiet personality, which also sparked conversations on the definition of pagpapakatotoo, or being true to oneself. “My presence sa loob ng bahay has always been intentional.”

“If may sasabihin or gagawin ako, malaki ang [consideration] ko sa kapwa kong housemates,” he continued. “Even before coming to the [PBB House], I’ve always been quiet. Pero when it mattered most, that’s when I became louder.”

The success of “PBB’s” latest edition eventually led to the housemates enjoying success in the outside world. A simple event is enough to spark a trending topic on social media, as seen on Manalo, Ralph de Leon, Esnyr and River Joseph’s recent appearance at the launch of the 51st Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Looking back at the experience, Manalo admitted that it was a “fever dream” and an unexpected moment for him.

“I didn’t expect na gan’un karami ang mag-show up hindi lang sa’kin pero para sa’ming lahat. Kasi dati, kapag nag-mall show ako, siguro may iilan lang who would show up. Ngayon, there are hundreds, if not thousands, who have shown up. Sana hindi matapos ang gan’ung pakiramdam,” he said.

Manalo’s final duo partner was Mika Salamanca, a content creator and an actress who is starring as Anaca. (Hannah Mallorca © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
