ILOILO City – The city government recognized seven 2017 Most Outstanding City Government Employees during the recent 80th Charter Day Celebration.
They were cited for excellent performance in seven categories namely: Crafts, Trade and Related Services; Social Services; General Administrative Services; Medical and Health Services; Supervisor; Assistant Department Head and Department Head.
Metro Aide II Rey M. Malunda of the General Services Office (for Crafts, Trade and Related Services) has been working for 35 years. She was honored for maintaining the cleanliness in his area of assignment.
Social Welfare Officer I Rosa Mae A. Aquit of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (for Social Service Category) is a licensed and credited court social worker. She was cited for her work at the Dalayunan Home for Boys.
Project Development Officer III Architect Keith D. Cameña of the City Planning and Development Office (for General Administrative Services Category) is an urban planner. He was part of the city government’s street maps, Local Shelter Plan, Geographic Information System, Computer Aided Design projects.
Medical Technologist of the City Health Office Rosemarie T. Huelar (for Medical and Health Services Category) has been serving for 34 years. She focuses on Human Immunodeficiency Virus programs, especially the Mobile HIV Voluntary Counseling and Testing.
Supervising Administrative Officer Ma. Lucy M. Sinay (for Supervisor Category), heads the Public Information Office. But she also chairs the Task Force on Anti-drug Abuse and Education and an active member of the Customer Care Center that deals with clients’ concerns.
Assistant Department Head Cheryl G. Chan of the City Assessor’s Office (for Assistant Head Category), was instrumental her department’s reaping of recognitions in the 5S Award for two consecutive years among highly urbanized cities.
Engineer Nelson Parreño (for Head Category) spearheaded the “Enhancing Tax Consciousness among Students through Tax Information Education Campaign.” This program is ongoing for 10 years now and had been awarded as a “Best Practice in Region 6.” He was cited as Outstanding City Assessor of the Philippines in 2008 while his department became a “hall of famer” as Most Outstanding City Assessment Office in Region 6.
The judges for the 2017 Most Outstanding City Government Employees were Maria Eleanor Antiquiera, a chief supervising officer of the Finance Administrative Division of the Department of Interior and Local Government Region 6 ; Professor Alfredo B. Diaz of the University of the Philippines High School Iloilo and pastor of God Glory Christian Church; Professor Mary Ann T. Gumban, dean of the College of Management of the University of the Philippines Visayas; and Atty. Sharon Millan, a practicing Certified Public Accountant at the Jalbuna and Cataluña Office.
